Moving to bearblog

Close to half a year ago, I made a decision to pursue music as a career instead of heading into cybersecurity or other compsci-studies. It was a choice that took me over two years to finally settle on, and is one of the things in my life that has felt the most "right". This choice does however have some consequences.

One of the more immediate ones is that I'll have less time to spend on different jobs in order to have enough time to practice outside of school, both by myself and band practice. Combined with some other factors, this has led to a slight but still noticeable decrease in my income. In other words, I'll have to cut down on quite a few luxury expenses as well as hobby-expenses, such as self-hosting my own website, cloud, bookwyrm-instance etc.

This is why I'm now moving to Bearblog! Herman is nice enough to provide a free tier which covers just about all that I need - a publishing platform that supports markdown, is readable on mobile, and that isn't riddled with privacy-invasive "features".

This is also done to prepare for next year, when I'll be moving to a Norwegian Folk High School to study jazz for a year. While there I won't be able to work anything and won't have any income to host any servers.

I look forward to all of this!
